About The Prosperity Project
“Household was among the pioneer users of BIPAC’s Prosperity Project in the 2000 and 2002 election cycles. This partnership was a big success, and the feedback from our employees was overwhelmingly supportive and appreciative for providing such detailed information on all candidates, voting records and voter education and issue education.”
William F. Aldinger
Former Chairman & CEO
Household International, Inc.
We can’t say it often enough. The point of all the money that flows through political campaigns is simply this: to get people to vote.
Groups who are best at turning out voters generally have a great communications infrastructure to help them succeed. As a business, you probably have a great communications infrastructure, too.
As an employer, your company has another tremendous asset: a group of people with a shared, personal stake in the candidates and policies that impact your jobs and industry.
Half of the “Fortune 50” now use tools provided by BIPAC’s Prosperity Project to educate and motivate employees about their stake in campaigns and elections. The tools help employers talk to management and stockholders about specific candidates. They also help employers talk to the broader workforce about registering to vote, about the records of the candidates, and about showing up at the polls on Election Day.
The Prosperity Project is your company’s political toolkit. You can design a package of services that fit your culture and needs. Your choices might range from an Internet or intranet site with candidate voting records to payroll stuffers, buttons, and posters. Your information can be highly customized, or can leverage existing material to discuss with your employees broad issues like healthcare and liability reform.
Frequent communication is important to the success of your Prosperity Project. Primaries, often months ahead of the final election, are your chance to make the first “cut” at the candidates. Millions of executives travel or work overseas, so absentee ballot registration is critical in the months before an election. Candidates can visit your organization at the beginning of the campaign to help get the ball rolling.
Polls show that the more employees hear from their companies about political subjects, the more they approve of and want the information – and the more inclined they are to participate in the election process.
“I think you did a great job in getting me prepared to vote. The site that directly linked the candidates with company issues was key and I swayed my husband from one candidate to another due to the information that I gathered from the site.”
